Cake Boxes

• Window cake boxes in white window and kraft use an acetate window so customers see the icing without opening the lid. Front-load glued 4-corner styles slide a tall cake in from the side; lock-corner boxes fold from a flat blank.
• Solid pastry and cake boxes without windows — white, natural kraft, cocoa brown, pink, and gloss black — protect the cake and stack cleaner for transport.
• Size the cake box to the cake shape. Square sizes include 8x8x4, 9 x 9, 10 x 10, and 12 x 12. Quarter sheet is 14 x 10. Half sheet is 19 x 14. White cake cover lids (18-1/2 x 13-1/4 and 26-1/2 x 18-1/4 x 2") sit over large sheet cakes when you only need a lid.
• Tall icing, flowers, or a second tier need 5" or 6" height. A 2-1/2" box is for a short cake, mini cake, or pastry — not a decorated layer cake.

• These are folding paperboard cake boxes (cardboard cake packaging), not plastic containers and not cake boards. Many lines use recycled paperboard with a kraft or white interior.
• White pastry boxes give a classic bakery look. Kraft bakery and cake boxes take stamps and labels. Pink and cocoa brown read as branded dessert boxes. Gloss black with a white interior is the upscale presentation box.
• A window cake should sit above the decoration, not against it. Set the cake on a cake board sized inside the box so the lid does not press the icing.
• Custom logo printing is available on many stock colors in low minimums. Order a sample before a case quantity.

• Cake shops usually standardize one everyday 8x8x4 or 10 x 10 cake box, then keep a taller window cake box for decorated and wedding cake orders.
• Grocery bakery counters and catering kitchens need sturdy lock-corner boxes that assemble fast, stack, and ship. Solid kraft or white is usually faster than a window box during a rush.
• Some window sizes also pack pastries, cookies, pies, or mini cupcakes. That does not replace cupcake boxes with inserts. Use this collection for whole cakes and sheet cakes.
